» Jason writes in his LiveJournal: "I think I am going to get the Rib, Chicken and Steak combo for lunch and dinner just so I know that six animals died for me. I am so fucking pissed at our suicide in the name of the environment. Civilization does not separate us from nature it protects us from it." He's talking about this Times article too, where a Florida business is being purchased so that the swamp can be more swamp-y, because somehow that's better than having sugar. I replied on Jason's page: "The environment has nothing to do with anything really—these people are just neo-puritans who want no one to enjoy life or be happy. They may as well be wearing belt buckles on their shoes and hats."
» This is very cute: "Scientists today confirmed what many have suspected for some time: Keith Olbermann (host of Countdown on MSNBC) and Bill O’Reilly (host of The O’Reilly Factor on Fox News) are two halves of the same person, split into their Good and Evil halves by an experimental teleportation device." Read the rest at the link.
» The headline for this story is: "Ex-Press Aide Writes That Bush Misled U.S. on Iraq" and I don't doubt it. The problem for me is this guy had a responsibility to be forthright to the American people THEN, not now to sell a book. He's as guilty as anyone if anyone is guilty for misleading people.
» You have to be amused at these two headlines, one after another, on Google News: "Hillary Clinton's campaign debt soars to $31 million - Los Angeles Times" and then - "Obama Raised $31 Million for Campaign in April - Bloomberg" Hehehehehe. She really has to pack it in now, it's just getting silly.
» If you can believe them, WorldNetDaily reports that the FBI is looking into Wikipedia for posting a scan of the controversial cover for the Scorpion's "Virgin Killer" album. My question is, why is this album drawing such ire, when Blind Faith's self-titled album isn't? (QB by Michael.)
» This isn't good for Obama: "Obama said he was 'shocked' by Wright's statements during a speech at the National Press Club yesterday in Washington. 'The person I saw yesterday was not the person I had come to know over 20 years,' said Obama, an Illinois senator." None of the rest of us were shocked. Why was he? Hillary might not be able to win the nomination, but Obama has already lost the White House.
» The newspaper I work for has a forum where folks can post, respond to stories, etc. An issue popped up about installing cameras in school zones to help nab drivers that speed past the schools, endangering kids. One of the more... we'll say vocal... posters on the board began complaining about how such cameras would violate the right to privacy guaranteed to him by the founding fathers in the Constitution. Of course, I had to lay the snark down on him like Dave did a few years ago. I guess I shouldn't surprise me, but it is continually amusing to see people carry on about things when they clearly don't know the basics behind about what they are complaining. (QB by Michael.)

» News: "Tomatoes May Be Blamed for Salmonella Outbreak in 9 States" - As I suspected, tomatoes are evil.
» News: " GM axes four SUV and truck plants" - Is it the end of the SUV?
» News: "German Propaganda Archive" - A gallery of Nazi propaganda posters dating from 1933-1945. They've also got a gallery (linked at the site) of pre-1933 posters. If you poke around the site a bit, you'll also find propaganda material from the United States and other countries. Its interesting to see this stuff 60-plus years later. (Linked by Michael.)
» News: "Teen alleging rape turns to YouTube" - I don't know what to say about this. There's certainly no way to be Snarky about it. (Linked by Michael.)
» Blog: "Scenes From A Bunker" - Hysterical. Lee says: "This is quite possibly the most brilliantly funny piece of political satire I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched it about sixty times already and I am still crapping myself laughing."
» News: "Like Mother Like Daughter" - "(Chelsea) Clinton brushed aside a question from an individual in the crowd who asked for her take on her mother’s handling of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. 'Wow, you’re the first person actually that’s ever asked me that question in the, I don’t know, 70 college campuses that I’ve now been to and I do not think that’s any of your business,' Clinton responded according to the station." You know, she's right that it's none of our business, but there's no need to be such a DICK about it.

» Blog: "Barack Obama is just a nicer version of Al Sharpton " - "I'll say it. What the hell do I care? No one can fire me or force me to apologize. BECAUSE HE’S BLACK. That’s the sum total of the entire reason why Barack Jesus Kennedy Obama is not allowed to be questioned, why he’s not held to any standard of honesty and why he is not expected to tell the god-damned truth. It’s why he can claim to be about hope and change while maintaining business-as-usual levels of Chicago corruption. It’s why he gets away with changing the subject completely from Jeremiah Wright’s complete lunatic HATE - yes, hate - of white people and makes it about why YOU are a racist for thinking anything other than 'Obama is the new Jesus and Jeremiah Wright is his Father.'"
